Modular Approach
The Standard AquaGem can treat approximately 4000 litres / hour. The AquaGem design is modular, where any number of units can be interconnected to provide outputs of multiples of 4 cu.m./hr. However, experience has shown that the systems work better in arrays of between 3 and 5 AquaGem cells. These arrays can be connected in banks, each bank being controlled and operated as a single AquaGem.
The immediate advantage of such an arrangement is that each bank only contributes to a portion of the total output. If a problem does occur in a AquaGem cell, it can be isolated and the total output is reduced by a small percentage only. In addition, although there is a lot of duplication inherent in the design, each component is small, and consequently inexpensive. It is therefore commercially viable for the operator to keep stock of a few spare components to be replaced on demand, without costly downtime or expensive repairs.
Another immediate advantage of the modular approach is the simplicity and low cost of manufacture. The AquaGem units are pre-fabricated and assembled in a dedicated area, with these advantages:
• quality control can be easily implemented by the manufacturer.
• the units can be tested prior to delivery by the manufacturer.
• modules can be kept in stock to shorten delivery times after receipt of order.
• costs can be kept low to the manufacturer and the user.
